Australia and Belgium faced each other only once at the Olympics, in the group stages at Tokyo 2020. The Belgians won that match 85-70.
These teams also played each other in the quarter-finals of the FIBA Women’s World Cup 2022, where Australia came out on top 89-66.
The Opals have won six medals in Olympic basketball so far - three silver and three bronze medals. Their last podium finish was a bronze medal at London 2012.
Belgium, meanwhile, made their women’s basketball debut at the Olympics at Rio 2016 and are vying for their first-ever medal in this event.
